Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr. was born on August 3, 1977, in San Mateo, California. He is the son of Galynn Patricia (née Johnson) and Thomas Edward Brady Sr. Brady has three older sisters: Maureen, Julie, and Nancy.

Brady attended Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo, where he played football, baseball, and basketball. He was a standout quarterback in football, leading his team to two Central Coast Section (CCS) championships. Brady also played in the 1995 East-West Shrine Game, where he was named the game's MVP.

After graduating from high school, Brady attended the University of Michigan, where he played football for the Wolverines. He was a backup quarterback for his first two years, but he became the starter in 1999. Brady led the Wolverines to a 20-5 record as a starter, including a victory in the 2000 Orange Bowl.

Brady was drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He became the Patriots' starting quarterback in 2001 after Drew Bledsoe was injured. Brady led the Patriots to a Super Bowl XXXVI victory over the St. Louis Rams, becoming the first quarterback to win a Super Bowl in his first year as a starter.

Brady went on to win six more Super Bowls with the Patriots, in 2004, 2005, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021. He also won three NFL MVP awards, in 2007, 2010, and 2017, and five Super Bowl MVP awards.

After 20 seasons with the Patriots, Brady signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. He led the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl LV victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, becoming the first quarterback to win a Super Bowl with two different teams.

Brady is widely considered to be the greatest quarterback of all time. He has set numerous NFL records, including most career passing yards (89,214),most career passing touchdowns (649),and most Super Bowl wins (7).
