The 1992-93 Phoenix Suns were one of the most exciting teams in NBA history. Led by Charles Barkley, Kevin Johnson, and Dan Majerle, the Suns played a high-octane style of basketball that earned them the nickname "Runnin' and Gunnin'." They finished the regular season with a record of 62-20, the best in the NBA, and advanced to the NBA Finals, where they lost to the Chicago Bulls in six games.

I was fortunate enough to be a part of that team as a benchwarmer. I didn't play much, but I got to experience firsthand the magic of that season. I saw the incredible talent of Barkley, Johnson, and Majerle up close, and I learned from the legendary coach Paul Westphal. It was an unforgettable experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

In this book, I share my memories of that season. I talk about the players, the coaches, and the games. I also share my thoughts on what made that team so special. I hope that you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it.

The Players

The Suns had a lot of talented players on their roster, but the three stars were Barkley, Johnson, and Majerle. Barkley was the team's leader and its best player. He was a powerful forward who could score, rebound, and pass with equal ease. Johnson was the team's point guard and its engine. He was a quick and shifty guard who could create his own shot and set up his teammates. Majerle was the team's shooting guard and its defensive stopper. He was a long and athletic player who could shoot the ball well and play tough defense.

In addition to the three stars, the Suns had a number of other talented players, including Tom Chambers, Danny Ainge, and Cedric Ceballos. Chambers was a veteran forward who could score and rebound. Ainge was a veteran guard who was a good shooter and defender. Ceballos was a young forward who had a lot of potential. He was a great athlete who could score and rebound.

The Coaches

The Suns were coached by Paul Westphal, who was one of the most respected coaches in the NBA. Westphal was a former player who knew the game inside and out. He was a great motivator and tactician. He was able to get the most out of his players and put them in a position to succeed.

Westphal was assisted by a staff of experienced coaches, including Cotton Fitzsimmons, Dick Van Arsdale, and Alvin Gentry. Fitzsimmons was a veteran coach who had won a championship with the Milwaukee Bucks. Van Arsdale was a former player who had been a member of the Suns' championship team in 1976. Gentry was a young coach who had a bright future.

The Games

The Suns played a high-scoring, fast-paced style of basketball. They loved to run and gun, and they were one of the most exciting teams to watch in the NBA. They averaged 122.7 points per game, which was the highest in the league. They also led the league in assists, with 27.4 per game.

The Suns had a lot of memorable games during the 1992-93 season. They won their first 13 games of the season, which was the best start in franchise history. They also had a 19-game winning streak later in the season. They finished the regular season with a record of 62-20, which was the best in the NBA.

The Suns advanced to the NBA Finals, where they faced the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls were led by Michael Jordan, who was the best player in the NBA. The Bulls won the series in six games, but the Suns gave them a run for their money. The Suns lost the first two games of the series, but they won the next two games to tie the series at 2-2. The Bulls won the next two games to win the series, but the Suns showed that they were a team to be reckoned with.

What Made the Team So Special

The 1992-93 Phoenix Suns were a special team for a number of reasons. They had a lot of talented players, they were coached by a great coach, and they played a style of basketball that was
