In his new book, Fame, Zachary Sherman tells the untold story of the Black Eyed Peas' rise to stardom. Sherman interviewed the band members, their families, and friends to create a comprehensive account of their struggles and triumphs.
The book begins with the band's humble beginnings in Los Angeles. Will.i.am, apl.de.ap, and Taboo met in the early 1990s and began making music together. They were soon joined by Fergie, and the Black Eyed Peas were born.
The band's early years were filled with challenges. They struggled to get signed to a record label and to find their own sound. But they persevered, and in 2003, they released their breakthrough album, Elephunk.
Elephunk was a critical and commercial success, and it launched the Black Eyed Peas into the mainstream. The album featured the hit singles "Where Is the Love?" and "Shut Up," which both reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The Black Eyed Peas' success continued with their next two albums, Monkey Business (2005) and The E.N.D. (2009). Both albums featured hit singles such as "My Humps," "Boom Boom Pow," and "I Gotta Feeling." By the end of the decade, the Black Eyed Peas were one of the most popular bands in the world.
But the band's success came at a price. The members were constantly touring and recording, and they were often under a lot of pressure. In 2011, Fergie left the band to focus on her solo career.
The Black Eyed Peas continued to record and tour without Fergie, but they never quite recaptured their former glory. In 2018, they announced that they were going on hiatus.
Today, the members of the Black Eyed Peas are all successful in their own right. Will.i.am is a successful producer and songwriter, apl.de.ap is a philanthropist, and Taboo is an actor and activist. Fergie has also had a successful solo career.
The Black Eyed Peas' story is a reminder that fame is not always easy to come by. It takes hard work, dedication, and a lot of sacrifice. But for the Black Eyed Peas, it was all worth it.
Fame: The Black Eyed Peas' Rise to Stardom is an inspiring and entertaining read for fans of the band and for anyone who is interested in the music industry.
