Grenville was born in Cornwall, England, in 1541. He began his naval career at the age of 16, and quickly rose through the ranks. In 1571, he commanded his first ship, the Revenge. The Revenge was a small ship, but Grenville was a skilled commander, and he quickly made a name for himself as a fearless fighter.

In 1588, the Spanish Armada sailed up the English Channel. Grenville was one of the English captains who fought against the Armada. The Revenge was outgunned and outnumbered, but Grenville refused to surrender. He fought bravely, and even managed to sink several Spanish ships. The Revenge was eventually captured, but Grenville escaped and returned to England a hero.

Grenville continued to serve his country with distinction for many years. He died in battle in 1591, but his legacy lives on. He is remembered as one of the greatest frigate captains in British history.
