Early Life and Career

Don Bernardo Gutierrez De Lara Uribe was born in 1775 in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. He was the son of a wealthy Spanish landowner and a Mexican mother. Uribe received a good education and became fluent in Spanish, English, and French. He also became a skilled horseman and swordsman.

In 1810, Uribe joined the Mexican army to fight for independence from Spain. He quickly rose through the ranks and became a captain. He fought in many battles and was wounded several times. After Mexico gained independence in 1821, Uribe continued to serve in the Mexican army.

Texas Revolution

In 1825, Uribe moved to Texas and became a citizen. He was a strong supporter of Texas independence and joined the Texas Revolution in 1835. He fought in several battles, including the Battle of San Jacinto. After the Texas Revolution, Uribe served in the Texas army.

Mier Expedition

In 1842, Uribe joined the Mier Expedition, an attempt to invade Mexico and overthrow the Mexican government. The expedition was a failure and Uribe was captured by the Mexican army. He was executed in 1842.

A Texas Hero

Don Bernardo Gutierrez De Lara Uribe was a brave and selfless soldier who fought for Texas independence. He was a true hero and his legacy will continue to inspire Texans for generations to come.
