Dave 'Tiger' Williams is a true hockey legend. He was a star player in the original World Hockey Association (WHA) and the National Hockey League (NHL),and he later went on to a successful career as an actor and stuntman in Hollywood. In his new autobiography, My Wild Ride, Williams shares the incredible story of his life and career.
Williams was born in Trail, British Columbia, in 1952. He grew up playing hockey and quickly developed a reputation as a tough and skilled player. He was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL in 1974, but he chose to sign with the Calgary Cowboys of the WHA instead. Williams played for the Cowboys for two seasons, helping them to win the Avco World Trophy in 1976.
In 1977, Williams signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL. He played for the Maple Leafs for six seasons, helping them to reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 1978. Williams was known for his physical play and his scoring ability. He was a fan favorite in Toronto and was voted to the NHL All-Star Game twice.
In 1983, Williams was traded to the Detroit Red Wings. He played for the Red Wings for two seasons before retiring from the NHL in 1985. Williams finished his NHL career with 175 goals and 253 assists in 523 games.
After retiring from hockey, Williams began a successful career as an actor and stuntman. He has appeared in over 100 films and television shows, including The Running Man, RoboCop, and Die Hard 2. Williams has also worked as a stunt coordinator on several films, including The Last of the Mohicans and Mission: Impossible.
