John Paul II was elected pope in 1978, at a time when the Soviet Union was at the height of its power. Reagan became president of the United States in 1981, at a time when the Cold War was at its peak. Both men were deeply committed to fighting communism, and they saw in each other a kindred spirit.

The relationship between John Paul II and Reagan was not without its challenges. Reagan was a conservative Republican, while John Paul II was a progressive Catholic. They also had different views on some foreign policy issues, such as the use of military force to combat communism. However, they were able to put aside their differences and work together to achieve their common goals.

One of the most important areas of cooperation between John Paul II and Reagan was in the fight against communism in Poland. Poland was a communist country under the control of the Soviet Union. John Paul II was a native of Poland, and he was deeply concerned about the plight of his countrymen. He used his moral authority to speak out against communism and to support the Solidarity movement, which was fighting for freedom and independence in Poland.

Reagan also supported Solidarity, and he worked with John Paul II to put pressure on the Soviet Union to allow Poland to become a free and independent country. In 1989, communism collapsed in Poland, and Solidarity led the country to democracy. John Paul II and Reagan played a key role in this historic victory.

The partnership between John Paul II and Reagan also had a major impact on the Cold War. Reagan's tough stance against the Soviet Union, combined with John Paul II's moral authority, helped to bring about the collapse of communism in Eastern Europe. In 1991, the Soviet Union dissolved, and the Cold War came to an end.

John Paul II and Ronald Reagan were two of the most important figures of the 20th century. Their friendship and partnership helped to defeat communism and promote freedom around the world. This book tells the untold story of their extraordinary relationship.
